Nine Years (and 1 day) Ago
As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been too busy to post much here lately. Client distractions. But somehow, I guess it is appropriate that I forgot this yesterday, given the practice of Friday Catblogging.
For it was nine years and one day ago that I launched my very first web site, on April 14, 1996 … Fuji’s Feline Tour. I was not only catblogging before it was cool, I was doing it before anybody knew what the hell it was. The site’s been kept in its original cheesey form all these years (tables, and font tags, and capitalized HTML, Oh, My!), just to keep me humble.
Lots has changed since then, including the technical ability to place higher quality images on the web than I could back then, but as you see below, some things haven’t changed at all; Fuji still loves her baskets.

Baskets of warm clean clothes are best.
As for cat quotes, I got ‘em . I think my favorite is from Jeff Valdez:
“Cats are smarter than dogs. You can’t get eight cats to pull a sled through snow.”

Baskets and paper bags are irresistible to cats. Baskets full of clean clothes are the best.
We have salukis which are remarkably catlike in temperament. Eos, our youngest saluki has her own cat, Nikko. Eos has trained Nikko to scratch her rump. If they were not both black I would have lots of pictures showing this remarkable exercise. They put on several shows of tag every day. One expects a saluki to chase a cat. To see the reverse is very funny. Nikko is often the instigator. When she pounces on Eos’s head and bites her nose the chase is on.
Some of my favorite Robert A. Heinlein quotes are about cats.
“Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.”
“Cat’s motto: No matter what you’ve done wrong, always try to make it look like the dog did it”
