The Atlanta Btfsplks, Week Two

Take one defensive battle resulting in a low scoring game, throw in a first year kicker who misses two field goals, one a gimme, liberally mix in seven sacks (13 now in two weeks), plus a second sub-100 yard rushing effort, and you’ve got The Atlanta Btfsplks ... Week Two.

I definitely saw an intensity of effort that was lacking last week on offense, but you could also see that Atlanta was facing a much better team than they did last week. And though they did manage to control the game momentum for a good while, when it came down to critical moments, Jacksonville made the big plays.

As good teams do. The Atlanta Btfsplks don’t yet fit that description. And it may be some time before they do. Step One is fixing that sieve of an offensive line.

Elsewhere today, one quarterback they traded away, Brett Favre, won about his 97,000th game for Green Bay, and last year’s backup, Matt Schaub, led Houston to a 34 point scoring total.

Meanwhile, in week two, current Atlanta starter Joey Harrington has thrown two interceptions, and zero touchdowns.

Zero felonies, too. Meaning, unlike others, he hasn’t done anything stupid enough to let his team down by not even being allowed to suit up. Credit where credit is due.

But execution? I’m thinkin’ it may be O-for-September for The Atlanta Btfsplks.

Hi, Reid.

I feel your pain, really I do. But I’ve got a bit of a conundrum here, as well.

You see, my ‘home’ team (the sheep) are also 0-2. But I have moved to the Center Of The Known Universe (otherwise known as the state of Kansas), and now I have another ‘home’ team to follow (the native american leaders), which is also 0-2.

So which team do I complain most loudly about? And which team is most likely to end up dead last in their division or league? And whose colors will I have to burn in disgust after they blow the season away?

So many questions…
