Iraq Rant #496
Number 496 in a 3.5 year old series.
Report of degrading situation in Iraq. Statement from Bush administration that the strategy is stay the course victory. Leak from an official “in the know” that there is reason to be far more concerned than the White House appears to be. Speech by Dick Cheney blaming the problems in Iraq on the media and Democrats sapping our soldiers will and morale. Rumsfeld is quoted saying “goodness me.” Press conference by the President with a frustrated expression as though he’s talking at idiots who just don’t get it, no matter how many times he explains it the same way. Predictable, repetitive, and uninspiring retort from Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and/or Howard Dean.
End result of this cycle: reality on the ground in Iraq is unchanged. Reid’s head explodes, spewing thousands of words all over this web site. Lather, rinse, repeat. For about three and a half years.
That was a lot easier and more efficient than the thousand-plus word rant I’d started and can’t bring myself to finish … because these hundred-plus words will have the very same impact. Less painful for you this way, too. You’re welcome. Carry on.
