The trial of former Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell begins Tuesday — “So far, a grinding federal investigation that started in 1999 has netted 12 city officials and contractors and a strip club owner on an array of bribery, perjury and corruption charges. Many were Campbell friends [...] But it wasn’t just corruption that angered residents, employees and those who knew the mayor. It was also that much of the city’s government had ceased to operate properly.”
