A Royal Visitor Returns
It was last July when we got our first Royal Visit. This past weekend, our nephew Jonathan came for another overnight stay. It was quite … entertaining.
He’s nearly two now (you may remember his birthday pictures, “I’m One”, and “I’m Done”). Last time I wrote, “He has wisely chosen females as his primary staff, and simply prefers they be the ones to tend to his every need. Whether that happened by choice or circumstance doesn’t matter, it is really working for him. I bow in humble awe.”
“Why, he had my wife cleaning in very specific ways, cooking special meals, and even bathing him! I told him, ‘I’m glad we had this visit from you, Sir Jonathan, because I have learned a lot of things about my wife. She has capabilities I have yet to fully mine. You must tell me the secrets of your ways…’”
That’s changed (though there was still much specific cleaning and special cooking). He’s now going through a Guy Phase. He wants to hang with The Guy. That would be me. As you might imagine, I’m pretty boring for your average nearly two year old, but we improvised. There was a lot of Guy Talk. I couldn’t really translate what he was saying, but being A Guy, I got his general point, just based on tone. Uh-huh.
But once I showed him I could point a funny box at him, make it “click,” and then turn it around and show him a little picture of his little self, well, he found that simply fascinating. Over and over and over again.
So, of course, there’s a new gallery of pictures from his visit. You even get to see Jonathan feed a Canadian Goose.

Take him to Home Depot. Carpet, mirrors, wood – and FORKLIFTS.
He’ll love it.
