Colors and Codes

Colors and Codes – Today’s dropping of the color coded alert level from orange back to yellow caused me to have one of those ”random thoughts.” It’s total speculation, as none of us truly know what the specific intelligence was that caused them to raise the level, or whether our alert status actually thwarted a planned attack.

Whatever the case, there was obviously ”hard chatter” using the phrase ”Flight 223,” as that British Airways flight was cancelled or delayed repeatedly. There may well have been a very real threat to that flight, I don’t know. But when they mentioned it again today in conjunction with the drop in alert status, I remembered the information they came up with after September 11, that the terrorists referred to a ”Porsche 911” in their communications.

They weren’t talking about that car. Perhaps these ”chatterers” weren’t talking about that flight, though they knew it might cause any eavesdroppers to scurry in response. Misdirection.

It’s very likely that February 23 will be just another Monday. Just as New Year’s Eve in Times Square was just another in the long line of big annual shindigs, this time in orange hats. But sometimes the conspiratorial voices in my head kick out one of these random thoughts … and I just have to share it with you.

You’re welcome.

Just another crazy thought - but isn't 223 the first 3 digits of zip codes for the Alexandria, VA area - not too far from the Baltimore/DC area ? See where the mind can wander ?

Or may be they don't use the American date format (MM/DD/YY). If they use the DD/MM format, then the date is supposed to be March 22.

I just did a goggle search for "Flight 223" and the date "February 23" which is this Monday, and was relieved I wasn't the only one who's been curious about this. It's been on my mind since that first Flight 223 was canceled.

Well, I just repeated your search, and it appears I'm just the lone paranoid fool willing to publish that thought. And frankly, I'd be quite happy if on the 24th people come here to call me just that, after a completely uneventful 23rd. But here's another fact to throw in the pot: on February 23, 1998, bin Laden issued his infamous fatwa declaring war on Americans, civilian and military: "On that basis, and in compliance with God's order, we issue the following fatwa to all Muslims: The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies -- civilians and military -- is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it." And another probably unrelated fact ... it was on February 26, 1993, that the WTC was first attacked.
