Atlanta Blogger Brouhaha
Atlanta Blogger Brouhaha – Last night, a group of Atlanta area bloggers gathered at the 5 Seasons Brewing Company, and much fun was had by all. Sitting around a very long thin table, our group grew and rearranged itself so much the waiter gave up on keeping separate checks (and I gave up on captioning pictures, never one of my strong points). It was both large and loud, which was a good thing, other than I felt like I didn’t get to talk much with a lot of the people at the other end of our long loud table.
And talk we did. We talked about what we don’t write about, which I find to be as fascinating as what people do choose to write about. We talked about putting together a group weblog about Atlanta, something we hope to pull off this winter. We talked about all kinds of things, even politics. As Greg Greene noted at the end of the evening, given the wide breadth of political philosophies represented, it was amazing there was no blood on the floor.
I replied, ”we mopped up fast.”
I’m bad with names, and as if that weren’t bad enough, everybody had a URL as well (the running joke of the night was introductions … ”Hi, I’m photodude.com, nice to meet ya” was far more effective than, ”Hi, I’m Reid”). Though I didn’t get to speak to everyone, the list of people who claimed they would be there includes Our Organizer Greg Greene, ”El Burro,” Dwight Meredith, Denny Wilson, Michael Demmons, Adam Harris, Mike Adkinson, Michal Wallace, Ricky West, Jim Flowers, Jeneane Sessum, John Adams, Jessica Harbour, Kelley, and Melanie.
Susan and I both had a really good time. I’m sure I’ve missed somebody or a URL, but hopefully that will be corrected in the comments. You’ll find a few mediocre pictures at the bottom of this entry. Hey, it was a dark bar, a long table of people, and my focus was on beer. However, Jessica did bring the cutest little Leica, so maybe she got something better (I’m still stunned there were only two cameras at the whole table).
I should also note, there wasn’t a Confederate flag or a pickup truck in sight.

And then, Greg got the bill…

Hey Photodude.com, here's the URL for moi! http://www.discountblogger.com Nice meeting you all last night, and we should do that more often!!
Got it, Michael, thanks. I checked your "name related" domain, and didn't have your blog URL. I agree. More gatherings to drink beer is always a good idea.
Good morning everyone! What a great evening that was, and what a great group of people. My only regret was that I didn't stay longer. We have to do it again, we just have to.
To say I had a great time is an understatement.
Sorry I missed it. Maybe next time...? (There will be a next time, right?) Oh, and a word to whoever wants it--well, two words, actually: Name tags.
Sorry I was so LATE! But it was fun watching greg count and recount everyone's dough and try to make sense of the check. ;-) look forward to another. don't forget John Adams was there - http://www.jzip.org/ Next time George hopes to get there -- he had a gig at Hueys, which would have been cool to coerce people to if I'd been early enough. Hung til 4 there. Bed by 6. I'm too old and tired for a life. SEE YA SOON!
I had a blast! It was great to meet you all...let's do it again in a few weeks!
Wow, is it Monday already? Great event. I enjoyed meeting everyone, as many as I was able to speak to at least. Good job on getting such a big turnout, Greg, and the Five Points wasn't too shabby too. Here's hoping that we do another one soon.
