Defacing Saddam

Defacing SaddamBack in March, I predicted that Saddam’s obsession with plastering his image all over Iraq would result in many creative alterations after his fall: “Saddam as the Devil, Saddam in stockings and a garter belt, and other creative ways to put his smiling visage into odd settings.” I even offered up a desktop collection of some of them.

But to do it right, you need Photoshop, voluntary citizen innovation, and the help of the US military: “Now U.S. troops are giving us a whole new vision of Saddam Hussein—a blonde-haired movie goddess with rouged lips and a low-cut blouse.”

“ ‘Zsa Zsa Saddam’ is one of a series spoof images of the ousted Iraqi dictator that are due to be posted on walls and billboards around his former stronghold of Tikrit by troops of the 4th Infantry Division’s 1st Battalion 22nd Armoured Regiment.”

“As well as a curvaceous Zsa Zsa Saddam—after movie legend Zsa Zsa Gabor—there is a buxom Rita Hayworth Saddam, a hip-swivelling Elvis Saddam and even a leather-and-spangle-clad Billy Idol Saddam.”

Th article says some of the images were taken from www.worth1000.com, where we find a small pot of Photoshop gold: Elvis Hussein, Billy Idol Saddam, Zsa Zsa Saddam, the Cleverly Hidden Saddam, Smoking Seductive Saddam, Hockey Buds, and photographic confirmation of the Evil Bert Theory.

But this is probably my favorite. And this is just plain scary.

Well great minds blog alike. I just did an item on this, hit save, and then came straight over here. Synchronicity increases to the alpha point on the Web.

Oh, yeah, as usual the Pentagon put the kibossh on this.

I don't get the "cleverly hidden Saddam." And say it ain't so, Van der Leun... rats. I think the Pentagon should reconsider; ridicule seems like a great weapon.

Thomas, Saddam is "cleverly hidden" in Gorbachev's "birth mark." I found it graphically funny, if not philosophically accurate.
