Al Qaeda's 4th of July Greeting
Al Qaeda’s 4th of July Greeting – Let’s look at the calendar. Hmm, another American Holiday weekend coming up, so it must be time for our regular “Ooga-Booga-BOO!” message from Al Qaeda: “A masked militant, speaking in a video filmed in a mud hut, warns of new al Qaeda suicide attacks and says Osama bin Laden’s terror network carried out deadly bombings in Saudi Arabia and Morocco.”
Supposedly, they are shifting their strategy. The new strategy apparently involves sending out really jerky video footage to scare us (no, that’s not basic technical incompetence, it’s sophisticated disguise and encryption … yeah, that’s what it is). Maybe the reason we haven’t seen a video from Osama for so long is that they keep dropping and busting their camera.
This new video even comes mixed with slim rumors of a 4th of July plot: “U.S. intelligence intercepted chat-room conversations between suspected Qaeda associates about attacks in Texas around the Fourth of July. One of the operatives, known only as ‘Sakr,’ said the attacks had been planned for a long time and that the terror-ists were simply waiting for approval from ‘the sheik.’ ”
Soon, we’ll be hearing about “increased chatter,” as we get closer to the holiday weekend. The government will begin wondering if we’d all look better in orange. And a week later when nothing’s happened, we’ll all look around and wonder, “what was that all about?”
Come Labor Day; lather, rinse, repeat on September 11th.
Al Qaeda has been reduced to the point they can’t distribute a competently made videotape, yet every time a holiday rolls around, we’re supposed to tremble in fear of their organized acts of terror ? No thanks. We’ve been here before. Again and again.
