Gitmo Seminars: Killing in the Name of God – The family of Murphy Police Officer Jeff Postell, the rookie cop who stumbled onto Eric Rudolph while on routine patrol, say they have received several death threats from supporters of Rudolph [reported tonight by WSB-TV, no online version yet].

Simply because Officer Postell did his job.

It still boggles my brain. There are people who not only support the actions of someone who killed and maimed random innocents at the Olympics, and killed a police officer and maimed a nurse in Alabama, they also threaten to kill the officer who captured him, and/or the officer’s family.

And they claim to be Americans. They claim to be Christians. And they think killing in the name of God is something to be admired, perhaps even emulated.

They even motivate liberals to say, “Maybe We Need Gitmo After All.”

You know, I hate to encourage John Ashcroft to crack down on anybody, for multiple reasons, but I firmly believe that anyone who physically aided Rudolph during his fugitive years (as well as anyone issuing death threats in his name) should be prosecuted to the fullest extent the law allows.

Or, follow the wishes of a bleeding heart liberal, and just throw them in Gitmo with their brethren. Maybe they can give each other seminars, and share cross cultural ideas about killing in the name of God.
