Eric Rudolph's Fan Club, Part 2
Eric Rudolph’s Fan Club, Part 2 – After September 11, a lot of Americans called on Muslims to speak out against the terrorism. It was said that they must police themselves from the inside, and publicly condemn those who claimed to be their peers, yet killed innocents.
Well, I’m from North Carolina, and I’m from the same generation as Eric Rudolph (8 years separate our ages). And I’m here to tell you, he’s a cowardly terrorist, and those who supported him are at best, severely misguided, and more likely, scum.
I feel the need to make this most obvious statement because there are still people in my home state sickly singing Rudolph’s praises. Melanie sent me an e-mail pointing to this NY Times article, “Sympathy for Bombing Suspect May Cloud Search for Evidence.”
“Around noon, Mrs. Howard walked outside, glanced up at the sign in front of her diner and decided to change the lettering on the marquee from ’Roast Turkey Baked Ham’ to ’Pray for Eric Rudolph.’”
“’Bless his heart,’ Mrs. Howard said. ’Eric needs our help.’”
Praying for a killer is not necessarily a contradictory act, some consider such a prayer to be a Christian tenet: forgiveness. But in the fall of 2001, I wonder if Mrs. Howard said, “Bless his heart. Osama needs our help.”
Oh, I’m sure they’d say “that’s different, Eric was fighting heathen abortionists, and the feds.” Hmmm, wasn’t Osama fighting “heathens,” and “the feds”?
And such an argument overlooks one glaring fact (emphasis mine): “While most of his supporters cite his anti-abortion views, a popular stance in many rural, conservative areas, they gloss over the most notorious charge against Mr. Rudolph, that he set off a pipe bomb in a random crowd at the Summer Olympics.”
This was no convention of abortionists or FBI agents, it was as diverse a crowd as you will ever find in Atlanta. People of all types, colors, nationalities, and beliefs. Out of the 110 injured, you can be certain that many of them were against abortion. But the nails from Rudolph’s 40 pound pipe bomb, the largest the FBI says they’ve ever seen, ripped through the flesh of all, regardless of belief.
He didn’t care who he killed. Those are the acts of a terrorist. And these are the words of a terrorist supporter: “’I didn’t see him bomb nobody,’ said Hoke Henson, 77. ’You can’t always trust the feds.’”
Well, Hoke, you didn’t “see” Osama bomb anyone, either, but I bet you were calling for his head.
“’He was a man who stood for what he believed in,’ said Bo Newton, a short-order cook in Andrews. ’If he came to my door, I would’ve given him food and never said a word.’”
No doubt, he stood up for his beliefs. He believed in the murder of innocents to advance his cause. Hitler did, too. And Osama. Those are Eric’s true peers. And that is the legacy you support.
People who claim to be Good Christians, yet defend the acts of Eric Rudolph, need to refresh themselves on the Ten Commandments, especially Number 5.
As a result of this, today, the wonderful times I’ve had in the North Carolina mountains over the years now feel somewhat tainted. And the only way I know to reclaim them is to condemn those who support a murderer, yet claim to be good Christian Americans.
I don’t know what you are. But you’re not what I was raised to believe is a “Good Christian,” and you most certainly are not my peer. You bring shame to the state of North Carolina, and all Americans.

I think he should be innocent untill proven guilty. I am from ga and I think he was trying to save the unborn children. Sure killing peolpe is wrong, But isnt killing the unborn children wrong or is that I guess you would think is alright,If he is guilty of murder I think they should find all of them guilty of murder, even the ones who work and has anything to do with the abortion clinics. because thats what they are doing themselfs is killing.
killing is killing at least he was trying to save the children,As they say the children are the future, what would the world be like without kids? And if he is guilty of murder so are the ones who works in the clinic's. Because that is what they are doing ,Murder is murder.reguardless of the age!!! THINK ABOUT IT.
Think about this, Bill. That's the blood of random strangers, spilled due to Rudolph's bomb in Centennial Park. A 40 pound pipe bomb set off in a crowd of families watching a band, people guilty of nothing other than going to the park. 1 killed (leaving a 13 year old motherless), and 110 injured. You, and your like, seem to think it is OK to kill or maim random people, just because you're Fighting The Good Fight (as defined by your religious beliefs). I, and people like me, think that is no different than Al Qaeda, who kill and maim random people because they're Fighting The Good Fight (as defined by their religious beliefs). Pardon me for disagreeing with every last damn one of you. A terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist. As are their supporters. I don't care to hear anymore moral equivalence from anyone who righteously claims the right to kill in the name of their God. Those people will have to explain their perverse interpretation of four simple words, “Thou Shalt Not Kill,” to someone other than me. Eventually.
Innocent until proven guilty. Eric Rudolph has been tried and convicted by the press. I live in the Atlanta area and I went to Olimpic Park the morning after the bombing. I also have family in Andrews NC. Let due process run its course, and all things will be presented to the jury.
you are so dam stupied
I AM ASHAMED THAT SOMEONE LIKE YOU (WRITING THIS ARTICLE) LIVES IN MY HOME TOWN OF ANDREWS. ERIC HAS NOT EVEN STARTED HIS TRIAL AND HERE YOU ARE ALREADY SPILLING YOUR VENOM ABOUT THE SHAME OF WHAT HE HAS DONE AND HOW IT AFFECTS YOU? WHO CARES. HE IS A NICE DECENT CARING MAN, WHO JUST MAY BE INNOCENT. LETS TRY HOLDING OUR TOUNGES ON THE JUDGEMENTS{CHECK COMMANDMENT #9)AND LET OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM TRY AND DO ITS BEST TO WORK FOR HIM.
I'm noticing a trend here. Toby managed to spell three of his five words correctly (the ones with 3 letters or less), and you can't turn off your caps lock key. It appears to be affecting your reading comprehension. I never said I live in your home town of Andrews. I said I am originally from North Carolina. But I'm sorry you are ashamed there are people in your town who disagree with you. Opinions can be that way, no matter how you might try to stifle them. You say he's “a nice decent caring man,” but I don't know many of those who go hide in the woods for six years. They're out doing nice decent caring things. And I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how a active string of four bombs in one year suddenly came to an stark end ... at the same time Eric Rudolph disappeared into the woods for six years.
