Uprising in Basra
Uprising in Basra – Richard Gaisford, embedded with the British Marines, is reporting on CNN that there is a “popular uprising” by local Basra Shi’ites (unknown numbers) against the remaining Iraqi army forces that have holed up there. Those Iraqi forces responded by turning their aim from coalition forces to fire on their own people. The UK Marines are now trying to take those units out and give the civilians protection.
It won’t be the last time we hear of Iraqi miltary forces killing Iraqi citizens.
