Authors and Inventors Ignored

Authors and Inventors Ignored – More arguments about the Eldred case, the proposed Eldred Act, and accompanying cultural battle, here and and lots of links here.

None of it appears to talk about individuals (other than Mickey and Lawrence). It’s all still about the corporations. As long as this remains about Disney, Sony, et. al., individual people … will … be … screwed. Trampled underfoot.

Let me check again ... “To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries.” Looks like the Constitution refers to authors and inventors, but has nothing to say about corporations. The inversion is nearly complete.

Maybe I need to hire a lobbyist. Yes, I’ve e-mailed my thoughts to several of the principals in this discussion, with nary an electron in response. But I bet if I change my name to PhotoDude, Inc…

I was under the impression that corporations are treated as individuals, when it comes to rights and laws. I was also under the impression that corporations are allowed to exist because they provide a benefit to the community (hence why corporations are given the rights of individuals, to encourage growth in the economy). Though most corporations these days don't seem to be providing much benefit to the community, and only look to provide as much benefit as possible for themselves. I could be wrong about all of this, though.
