Happy Mac (1984-2002) Killed By Jaguar – "Happy Mac, the smiling icon that for 18 years greeted Apple computer users when they started up their machines, is dead [...] But Apple refuses to comment on why Happy Mac was killed, or on what icons may have replaced Happy Mac’s more sober brethren—Sad Mac and Dead Mac.
In what I’m sure is a pure coincidence, I now know of two people who plopped down their $129 to upgrade from OS 10.1 to OS 10.2 (Jaguar), and they now have a Dead Mac. At least, temporarily.
That Jaguar can be a Bad Kitty.
