McKinney Screeches "Sellout"
McKinney Screeches ”Sellout” (Hand That Woman a Mirror) – Greg Greene, a fellow sufferer, er, I mean, District 4 constituent, is also on the McKinney case. He gives us his perspective on a mailing he got from McKinney, and shows that with one week to go until the primary, McKinney is again breaking out her well worn race baiting ploys. Even though her opponent is also a black woman. It’s just the way Cynthia has always done things, and Greg puts it well:
"If Cynthia McKinney has a crisis-management memo stowed away somewhere in her desk, here’s what it says: ’When in trouble, shout ’race.’ ’
Indeed. When people charge that you’ve accepted money from people under FBI investigation, just claim it’s more of the same FBI targeting of blacks, just like they did to MLK. If you’re Cynthia McKinney, when you’ve got an accomplished black woman with a distinguished career a-kickin’ yer butt, you don’t crow about your own accomplishments (that’s at best a 10 second commercial, anyway), you start handing out race cards as fast as you can.
Everywhere you look, Majette’s ’sold us out.’ Front and back, she’s ’sold us out.’ Boldfaced letters everywhere, screaming the message: ’watch out, here’s a sellout!’
In a black community, words don’t get any more loaded than that.
Never, but ever, in African-American life, do you want a reputation as a sellout. A sellout is Clarence Thomas. A sellout is MC Hammer. A sellout is yesterday’s lunch meat in today’s garbage can. A sellout, in short, is nowhere you want to be.
Of course, McKinney never meant to leave that impression in our minds—nooooooo, perish the thought. McKinney wants to talk health care. See that small print? Health care.
With that, I’ll shut up and leave you to ponder Cynthia McKinney: a black woman who plays the race card to force her opponents—even black ones—to shut up and stay at the back of the bus.
Greg also reports on another of McKinney’s no-shows "The congresswoman promised to talk issues in the studio with Atlanta talk show host Royal Marshall tonight, but—alas!—she bailed because of an unnamed ’scheduling conflict.’ " I can vouch from experience, crossing radio people can have some ugly results. They’re merciless, and Greg reports Royal wailed on McKinney the rest of the night: "Cynthia, you can’t buy bad press like that. Keep up the good work."
I appreciate Greg’s efforts to share. We’re alike in that way. We’re both just here to spread the word of Cynthia’s work. Yesterday, it was race baiting and no-shows. Who knows what wonders today and tomorrow will bring.
