K.I.S.S. Off
K.I.S.S. Off – In catching up on my blog surfing this morning, I found Melanie’s thoughtful offering on design philosophy and its application to the web. It’s a topic she frequents, as a long term designer in other mediums who seems unafraid to question the usage of long held ”design truths” in this newish medium. As someone who does not come from a schooled design background, and who has largely learned by osmosis, I’ve learned to listen to people like her because I know so many from the traditional design world who view the web as just a slightly odd piece of 8.5×11 inch paper.
Regarding the long held ”Keep It Simple, Stupid” school of design, as applied to the web, quoth Melanie: ”Content will always be king, which explains why most weblogs and sites with targeted content are immune from this philosophy.”
”Simplicity for its own sake is not a design solution.”
